New ‘Shots Fired’ Key Art Teases Show’s Moral Complexities (PHOTO)
A small North Carolina town is turned upside down when two racially charged shootings occur in Fox’s Shots Fired.
The first case is high-profile—an African-American cop (Mack Wilds) shoots an unarmed white man—and the second is of an African-American teenager, whose unsolved murder was swept under the rug. The Department of Justice sends an investigator Ashe Akino (Sanaa Lathan) and a Special Prosecutor, Preston Terry (Stephan James), to get to the bottom of the shootings.
The 10-part event series comes from Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood, and boasts an all-star cast: in addition to Lathan, James and Wilds, the series regulars include Richard Dreyfuss, Stephen Moyer, Will Patton, Aisha Hinds, Clare-Hope Ashitey, Conor Leslie, DeWanda Wise; Helen Hunt, Jill Hennessy and Dennis Haysbert appear as guest stars.
The quest to discover what happened—and why—is a throughline for the series. And as the key art teases, “Some lines are meant to be crossed.”
