‘Bull’: Michael Weatherly Returns to CBS as a Dr. Phil-Style Jury Consultant
Recent NCIS alum Michael Weatherly has a knack for introducing viewers to obscure arms of the justice system. (Did you know what the Naval Criminal Investigative Service was before that show premiered?) Next up: The actor acquaints audiences with “trial science” on Bull, a procedural based on the early career of Dr. Phil McGraw, who serves as an executive producer along with his son, Jay, and Steven Spielberg.

Weatherly plays Jason Bull, a genius whose team at Trial Analysis Corporation helps clients win court cases by using psychology and high-tech data to analyze and influence the jury. Legally, of course.
It’s pretty cool. And a little scary. “We’re pulling the curtain back on what really goes on behind the scenes at a trial,” McGraw says. “There’s a huge difference between telling the truth and telling the truth effectively. If you know who’s in the jury box, you can figure out how to communicate to them. We knew who they dated in the seventh grade. We knew what bumper stickers were on their car.” As we said, scary.
