Best-known for playing Nurse Maggie Lockwood in all three of Dick Wolf's Chicago-based dramas, Marlyne Barrett also enjoyed recurring roles in "The Wire" (HBO, 2002-08), "Damages" (FX, 2007-2012) and "Kings" (ABC, 2009). Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1978 Barrett made her on-screen debut in the short film "Angelique" (1999) and following various cameos in made-for-TV and direct-to-DVD movies, she landed her first leading role starring opposite Hill Harper in the romantic comedy, "Love, Sex and Eating the Bones" (2003). After briefly showing up in Will Smith box office hit "Hitch" (2005), Barrett made the first of several appearances in the "Law and Order" (NBC, 1990-2010) franchise, played Nancy in James Ponsoldt's directorial debut, "Off the Black" (2006) and enjoyed an eight-episode stint as Council President Nerese Campbell in the award-winning crime drama "The Wire" (HBO, 2002-08). Recurring roles as attorney Felicia Marquand on the legal drama "Damages" (FX, 2007-2012) and palace secretary Thomasina on modern-day biblical retelling "Kings" (ABC, 2009) then followed, as did one-off parts in "Bored to Death" (HBO, 2009-12), "The Good Wife" (CBS, 2009-2016) and "Gossip Girl" (The CW, 2007-2012). After playing Detective Chris Thompson in the first two episodes of "American Crime" (ABC, 2015-), Barrett was cast as Nurse Maggie Lockwood in "Chicago Med" (NBC, 2015-). Barrett also played the same character in Dick Wolf's two other Windy City dramas, "Chicago Fire" (NBC, 2012-) and "Chicago PD" (NBC, 2014-), before returning to film for the first time in a decade in indie drama "Quest" (2017).
