In ‘Elena and the Secret of Avalor’, Jane Fonda Plays Sorceress Who Imprisoned Elena
On Sunday, November 20, Disney Channel and Disney Junior will debut the movie Elena and the Secret of Avalor, an origin story for the Elena of Avalor series. In it, Sofia of Enchancia (yes, Sofia the First fans, the very same Sofia you love, voiced by Ariel Winter) discovers that her amulet not only magic, but it’s also holding the imprisoned Princess Elena of Avalor (Aimee Carrero).
Who imprisoned her? An evil sorceress named Shuriki, voiced by none other than film legend and Oscar winner Jane Fonda. Above is the first look at Shuriki, with Elena in what we imagine is a pretty scary cell for the young princess.

The movie combined the writing staffs of the two shows, and will also debut “My Time,” a new anthem for Princess Elena. The voice cast includes Sara Ramirez, Chris Parnell, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Ana Ortiz. Should be a fun time for fans of both Sofia and Elena, but we’re looking forward to hearing Fonda kill it as Elena’s evil warden.
