‘All the Light We Cannot See’: Netflix Announces Additional Cast for Epic Drama
The cast for Netflix‘s All the Light We Cannot See is growing as the streamer adds Louis Hofmann, Lars Eidinger, and Nell Sutton to its ensemble.
The new additions join previously announced stars Mark Ruffalo, Hugh Laurie, and Aria Mia Loberti in the adaptation of Anthony Doerr’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel with the same title. All the Light We Cannot See is a four-part limited series produced by Shawn Levy‘s 21 Laps Entertainment.
Serving as the director, Levy is joined by writer Steven Knight on the creative side of the project for Netflix. Among the characters that the latest casting additions will play are Werner Pfennig (Hofmann), a quiet and pensive German soldier who is swept up in the brutality of war. Described as soulful, poetic, and honorable, he’s a young soldier with “leading man looks” and a strong moral compass.
Meanwhile, Eidinger will take on the role of Sergeant Major Reinhold von Rumpel, a cruel and terminally ill Nazi officer who spends his final days hunting down a diamond he believes will provide him with eternal life. And Sutton has been cast in the role of Young Marie-Laure, the younger version of Loberti’s character, a blind girl at the heart of the story. Both blind actresses will make their debuts with this role.
As previously revealed, Ruffalo is playing Daniel LeBlanc and Laurie will assume the role of Etienne LeBlanc. All the Light We Cannot See follows the story of Marie-Laure whose path collides with German soldier, Werner as they both attempt to survive the devastation and destruction of World War II in occupied France.
