‘Don Wong’: Get a First Look at Ali Wong’s New Netflix Special (VIDEO)
Don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on Valentine’s Day this year? Netflix has you covered for a fun night at home with the premiere of comedian Ali Wong’s latest stand-up special Ali Wong: Don Wong, which premieres on Monday, February 14. “Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Ali reveals her wildest fantasies, the challenges of monogamy, and how she really feels about single people,” states the special’s description.
Filmed in November 2021 at The Count Basie Theater in New Jersey, Don Wong marks the comic’s third special to debut on the streamer after the successes of Ali Wong: Hard Knock Wife and Ali Wong: Baby Cobra. Poking fun at her memorable cheetah print look from Baby Cobra, Wong stresses over picking an outfit for this special in the new behind-the-scenes trailer. “It was so difficult to figure out what to wear for this special because I’m not pregnant,” she says.
As fans arrive for a night full of laughs, she gets ready backstage with her friend and fellow comedian, Sheng Wang. “I think about, like, men when they do stand-up,” Wong muses. “They don’t get into a dress. They don’t, like, put on any makeup when they go on the road. They just… go out with their bald-ass head.”
In addition to her comedy specials, Wong starred in the streamer’s hit rom-com Always Be My Maybe alongside Randall Park, and has lent her voice to several animated series, including Ask the StoryBots, Ada Twist, Scientist, and the Emmy Award-winning Big Mouth.
Wong also serves as an executive producer alongside director Nahnatchka Khan, Inman Young, Alli Reich, and Corey Deckler for A24.
“I’m not very good at being a diva,” she jokes at the end of the teaser.
