Amy Schumer Talks Hosting Oscars With Regina Hall & Wanda Sykes (VIDEO)
ABC‘s Good Morning America has confirmed yesterday’s news that Amy Schumer, Regina Hall, and Wanda Sykes will host this year’s Academy Awards ceremony.
Schumer appeared on the morning news program via a pre-recorded video link. “I’m not sure who thought this was a good idea,” she joked, “but I am hosting the Oscars, along with my good friend Wanda Sykes and Regina Hall. I better go watch some movies.”
The short segment on Good Morning America was intended to be the official announcement; however, Variety broke the news on Monday that the trio of comedians would be hosting the awards ceremony. This marks the first time three hosts will emcee the event since Paul Hogan, Chevy Chase, and Goldie Hawn 35 years ago. It’s also the first all-female trio in Oscars history.
The wait is finally over! The #Oscars will have a triple dose of comedy from its three hosts this year:

Produced by Will Packer (Girls Trip), the Academy Awards will air Sunday, March 27, at 8 p.m. ET. The show has been presented without a host for the past three years, beginning in 2019 when comedian Kevin Hart stepped down from his hosting duties amid backlash over his past homophobic tweets. The previous two ceremonies were handled by an ensemble of A-lister presenters rather than a set host.
The last time a woman hosted the Oscars was Ellen DeGeneres in 2014. Whoopi Goldberg was the event’s first-ever female host in 1994; she would go on to host the show four times in total. Bob Hope still holds the record for Oscar hosting duties, having emceed the event 19 times; Billy Crystal is in second place with 9 times.
Schumer starred in the 2021 psychological drama film The Humans alongside Richard Jenkins, Jayne Houdyshell, Beanie Feldstein, Steven Yeun, and June Squibb. She will next be seen in the Hulu comedy series Life & Beth opposite Michael Cera.
