2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards, Unscripted Set Dates for 2-Night Live Broadcast
It’s almost time for the MTV Movie & TV Awards. And this year, the awards show will return to its in-person broadcast live from Los Angeles’ Barker Hangar on Sunday, June 5, MTV announced Wednesday.
The June 5 show will honor the best of movies and TV. The second annual MTV Movie & TV Awards: UNSCRIPTED will take place Monday, June 6, honoring the best of reality TV. It will also broadcast live from Barker Hangar.
“Over-the-top, funny and completely fresh, the night will celebrate the jaw-dropping, no-rules, drama-filled moments from our favorite reality shows,” a statement said.
Hosts, honorees, performers, and presenters for the 2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards and the 2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards: UNSCRIPTED will be announced at a later date. Both broadcasts will air on MTV internationally in 180 countries.
The telecasts are executive produced by MTV’s Bruce Gillmer, Wendy Plaut, and Vanessa Whitewolf and Den Of Thieves’ Jesse Ignjatovic and Barb Bialkowski.
Jackie Barba and Alicia Portugal are Executives in Charge of Production, and Lisa Lauricella is the Music Talent Executive for both of the events.
The 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards telecast took place May 16 at the Palladium in Los Angeles. Many nominees attended the live event, but others — like MTV Generation Award winner Scarlett Johansson — gave their acceptance speeches via video.
After she thanked a slew of people for their support over her three-decade career, Colin Jost popped in and slimed her as if she was at the Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards. Hopefully, no one will get slimed at this year’s event.
The big winners at the 2021 Movie & TV Awards included WandaVision for Best Show, Best Performance in a Show (Elizabeth Olsen), Best Villain (Kathryn Hahn), and Best Fight, Bridgerton star Regé-Jean Page for Breakthrough Performance, Anthony Mackie for Best Hero in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and Outer Banks stars Chase Stokes and Madelyn Cline for Best Kiss.
