Why Sebastian Stan Can’t Wait For Pamela Anderson Netflix Documentary
Sebastian Stan has admitted he is excited about the upcoming Pamela Anderson documentary. The Pam & Tommy star responded to the news of the film, announced March 2 by Netflix, saying he loves that she’s telling her story on her terms.
“I think it’s great,” he told Variety at the Fresh premiere on March 3. “I’m feeling grateful and hopeful that the show inspired further conversation and another deeper look that it deserves, so I look forward to seeing it.”
Stan plays Tommy Lee in Hulu’s Pam & Tommy. The limited series tells the story of how Anderson and Lee’s sex tape was stolen and released without their consent. Lily James plays Anderson, and reportedly reached out to Anderson when preparing for the role. The show’s producers also reached out to the Baywatch alum, but she didn’t respond.
Anderson reportedly does not approve of Pam & Tommy. A source close to the star said she has no intentions to watch the show.
“I do know she’ll never, never watch this,” the source told Entertainment Weekly. “Not even years from now. Not even the trailer.”

The Netflix documentary has been years in the works and has Anderson’s consent and cooperation, according to the streaming service. The announcement came with a handwritten personal message from Anderson herself.
“My life / A thousand imperfections / A million misperceptions / Wicked, wild and lost / Nothing to live up to / I can only surprise you / Not a victim, but a survivor / And alive to tell the real story,” she wrote.
The documentary is directed by Ryan White (The Keepers, Ask Dr. Ruth) and will include exclusive access to Anderson, her personal journals, and never-before-seen archival footage of her life. Anderson and Lee’s son, Brandon Thomas Lee, is a producer on the doc.
The film will feature Anderson “setting the record straight as she looks back on her professional path and her personal journey.” It seems as though Anderson intends for the documentary to be her official response to Pam & Tommy and all other discussion of her life over the years.
Pam & Tommy still has one episode yet to air. The series finale debuts on Hulu March 9. James and Stan will attend the series finale screening event the day prior at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.
