‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Teaser Brings Captain Pike Back to the Enterprise (VIDEO)
If the new Star Trek: Strange New Worlds teaser does only one thing, it reminds us of the beauty of the U.S.S. Enterprise.
With about two months to go before the new series starring Anson Mount (as Captain Christopher Pike), Ethan Peck (as Science Officer Spock), and Rebecca Romijn (as Number One) premieres, Paramount+ has released the first teaser. And the beginning suggests that something is going to be drawing Pike back in as captain. Considering the fate he saw in Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 that awaits him (“The Menagerie” from Star Trek: The Original Series), we can’t exactly blame him.
Watch the video below for more, including Pike on a horse (Tango, possibly) and some of the worlds they’ll be exploring.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds premieres on Thursday, May 5, with episodes releasing weekly. (The first season consists of 10 episodes, and the series has already been renewed for a second.) It is based on the years that Captain Pike manned the help of the U.S.S. Enterprise and follows him, Spock, and Number One in the years before Captain Kirk boarded the U.S.S. Enterprise, as they explore new worlds around the galaxy.
The series also stars Jess Bush as Nurse Christine Chapel, Christina Chong as La’an Noonien-Singh, Celia Rose Gooding as Cadet Nyota Uhura, Melissa Navia as Lt. Erica Ortegas, and Babs Olusanmokun as Dr. M’Benga.
The series premiere was written by Akiva Goldsman with the story by Goldsman, Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet. Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers serve as co-showrunners, with Goldsman directing the premiere episode. Joining Goldsman, Kurtzman, Lumet, and Alonso Myers as executive producers are Heather Kadin, Frank Siracusa, John Weber, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth and Aaron Baiers. The series is produced by CBS Studios, Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment.
