Serena vs. Venus, Rafa vs. Roger in Australian Open 2017 Finals

It’s shaped up to be an epic final weekend for tennis Down Under. The 2017 Australian Open singles finals have come down to Serena Williams vs. sister Venus Williams in the ladies’ final, and longtime rivals Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer face off in the men’s match.

It’s the 28th meeting between Venus and Serena, with Serena holding a 16-11 advantage in the overall win column against her sister and a 6-2 advantage in major finals. The Williams sisters have combined for 29 major titles. For Serena, a win in Melbourne would give her an Open Era record 23rd major title and her seventh at the Australian Open.

On the men’s side, Nadal and Federer have made remarkable comebacks after injuries plagued their 2016 seasons. Nadal owns 14 major titles and Federer owns the record with 17. This is the 35th meeting between Nadal and Federer, with Nadal holding a decided 23-11 edge over Federer. Nadal also has a 6-2 lead over Federer in major finals.

ESPN and WatchESPN air the finals live in the very late night on Friday and Saturday (see schedule below). For those who’d like to sleep, ESPN and ESPN Classic combine to televise encore presentations at more reasonable hours, but stay off social media if you want to avoid spoilers.
