How Does Tori Deal Feel About Working With Ex Jordan Wisely on ‘The Challenge 40’?

When it comes to The Challenge, being expected to work alongside a former flame is a rather routine part of the competition. After all, there’ve been whole seasons devoted to exes teaming up to take on their fellow former Challenge couples. For Season 40, Battle of the Eras, Tori Deal wasn’t just fine with teaming up with her ex-fiance Jordan Wiseley — she was delighted to have him in her corner.

TV Insider spoke to Deal at a Challenge press event, and she explained why she was happy to have Wiseley come in as the missing piece of Era 3.

“Oh my god, I love working with Jordan,” she said. “He’s like the GOAT. I think that when you see him on your team, it’s just [great].”

Coming into Season 40, Wiseley had already won on Battle of the Exes II, Dirty 30, War of the Worlds 2, and World Championship. Deal won on Ride or Dies.

Deal and Wiseley first met on the set of The Challenge Season 30, Dirty Thirty, in 2017 and were engaged on the show during Season 34, War of the Worlds in 2019. The two split up in 2020.

Deal continued to say that as a general rule, she tries to put aside any personal feelings about her partners and teammates on any given Challenge season — with one major exception: “When you’re there to compete, you try not to look at anybody that’s on your team and see a past relationship. You just look at who am I working with now, and how can we succeed — unless that person’s Amanda [Garcia], then you absolutely look at that person and you say, ‘I don’t want to work with that person.’ So it just depends. But Jordan and I, we’re always going to be great.”

She was referring, of course, to her contentious relationship with Amanda Garcia, which boiled over on social media in 2021, culminating with Deal claiming Garcia was libelous in an Instagram post about her. The two are teamed up on The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras, and in the cast preview launch special (embedded above) that aired last Wednesday (August 7), Garcia was ready to bury the hatchet — but with Cara Maria Sorbello, not Tori Deal.

“At the end of the day, Cara is a strong competitor, and she also doesn’t like Tori,” Garcia said in a confessional about her positive conversation with Sorbello.
