The Daily Show‘s Desi Lydic tackled Donald Trump‘s chaotic X interview with Elon Musk on Tuesday’s (August 13) show, focusing on his strangely complimentary comments about Vice President Kamala Harris.

Lydic, one of the Daily Show‘s recurring hosts, played a clip from the interview in which the former president discussed Harris’ recent TIME magazine cover and appeared to be smitten with the Democratic presidential nominee.

“She looks like the most beautiful actress ever to live,” Trump said. “It was a drawing. And actually, she looked very much like a great first lady, Melania. But, of course, she’s a beautiful woman. So we’ll leave it at that.”

“Ooh, someone has a crush,” Lydic responded.

“Where did this come from?” the late-night host continued. “Did he have a sex dream about Kamala that he just can’t shake and now everything feels different? He can’t focus on anything. He’s just going through TIME magazine looking for a centerfold.”

Lydic said there was a positive to Trump’s comments, noting, “I think we finally found the one thing Trump is incapable of lying about. If he thinks someone is hot, he’ll say they’re hot. He’ll lie about winning an election, but he has deep respect for the sanctity of bangability. That’s noble.”

Elsewhere in her monologue, Lydic pointed out Trump’s lisp and slurred speech throughout the interview with the X owner. “What is happening in his mouth? I know the guy’s big on slurs, but this is next level,” she quipped.

The X interview was hit with various snags and technical difficulties, resulting in a 40-minute delay. Musk and various right-wing pundits blamed it on a “deep state” attack trying to silence Trump.

“If there’s a deep state trying to silence Donald Trump: you suck at your job, okay? Because he is the opposite of silent. There is no one more unsilent than Donald Trump right now,” Lydic commented before turning directly to the camera. “Hey, deep state, look at me. Look at me. Do better.”
