‘Wild Kingdom’ Sneak Peek: A Mama Bear Rescue Success (VIDEO)
The second season of NBC’s Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom is almost here, and the conservation team at the center of the action will be working to protect all manner of habitats when the series, a reboot of the classic favorite, returns.
Cohosts Peter Gros and Dr. Rae Wynn-Grant will trek across the world to meet with wildlife experts who are working to protect nature’s most vulnerable creatures, including some larger animals than last season and some across-the-seas adventures. They’ll be exploring habitats far and wide across 12 states, from deep-sea shark nests to polar bear dens and beyond.
In TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek at the new season (embedded above), the good doctor visits a mama bear in her den and reports that the efforts to help her community of creatures thrive is paying off.
“This is one of those really wonderful conservation success stories where we’re able to find a wild animal thriving, and that represents a population of wild animals — black bears, in this case — that are thriving. It’s because of conservation efforts like the one we have seen,” Wynn-Grant explains in the clip.
“It’s been an honor visiting this mama bear here in her den, and out of respect for her and because our job here is done, we’re going to put her cubs back with her in this den, and we’re going to leave and check on them again in a few months to make sure the family’s still doing well,” she adds.
Wild Kingdom‘s new edition recaptures the magic of the original broadcast series, which first premiered on the network in 1963 featuring hosts Marlin Perkins and Jim Fowler. It returned to television in 2021. Classic episodes can be watched online right here.
