‘The Thing’ Co-Stars Kurt Russell and Keith David Reunite for First Time in 40 Years at John Carpenter’s Hollywood Walk of Fame Ceremony

John Carpenter, the horror and sci-fi auteur behind genre-defining classics like Halloween, The Thing, and Escape from L.A., received his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on April 3 — and by his side were The Thing co-stars Kurt Russell and Keith David, who had not appeared together in public in 40 years. Also joining the pair was Greg Nicotero, director and special effects wizard who worked on Carpenter’s In The Mouth of Madness, Vampires, and Ghosts of Mars, among other films.
“[Carpenter] deserves this day, this praise,” said Nicotero in his speech honoring the director. “He’s altered the way that we watch movies, and today is about recognizing his magnificent and unprecedented contribution to the film industry.” Nicotero then added, “The one thing I want to hope is that by the time this ends, we’re finally gonna find out if Keith David or Kurt Russell was The Thing.”
