By now you are probably familiar with the breakout series This is Us, but it is the breakout star from the show, Chrissy Metz, who has stolen many hearts, not just for her strong performance onscreen, but also for her real-life outspokenness about body positivity.

Metz’s confidence was on display last night. The actress attended the 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards, and apparently her bold look was met with many unkind comments. But this starlet is here to let people know that she doesn’t let those comments influence her wardrobe choices.

In a pointed tweet, Metz wrote: “For the record, I wear what I want, when I want. News flash it’s MY body.” The statement was topped off with the hashtag “thankstho,” letting those bullies know that her will is stronger than their weak words.

Metz is no stranger to such attacks, and has proven herself to be a role model for body positivity. In an essay to her younger self for People Magazine’s 2017 World’s Most Beautiful issue, Metz wrote:

“We are all on our own journey and YOU are the driver. There will be bumps in the road, detours to be taken and pit stops will have to be made, but you’ve got to fill ‘er up and keep going. You will lose your map, but never your intuition.”

If you ask us, Chrissy was rocking that red latex dress like the star that she is, and all we can say is: You go, girl!
