What’s Worth Watching: Undateable Does It Live

Undateable, “A Live Show Walks Into a Bar” (Tuesday, May 5, 9/8c, NBC)

May sweeps means classic network stunts, and NBC’s Undateable is pulling out an old trick with the live episode tonight. When a music festival rolls into town, Danny (Chris D’Elia) and Justin (Brent Morin) go head-to-head for the attention of a beautiful backup singer (guest star Victoria Justice). While the guys duke it out, the rest of the gang works hard to keep Candace (Bridgit Mendler) from falling back into the arms of her old boyfriend. Expect loads of special guests—including some real-life rock stars—and for at least one of the guys to drop a few words to make the NBC censors sweat. The episode will be performed live for both coasts, and producers promise there will be noticeable differences between the two. But the real fun of these live episodes will be watching these professional comedians try to make each other crack up as the hilarity ensues in real-time.
