Disney Channel Announces Premiere Date for Teen Beach 2

Disney Channel is heading back to the beach next month. Teen Beach 2, the sequel to its hit 2013 original TV movie Teen Beach Movie, will premiere Friday, June 26 at 8/7c.

The first Teen Beach Movie attracted 13.5 million viewers, making it the second most-watched movie in cable TV history. For the sequel, stars including Ross Lynch (Austin & Ally) Maia Mitchell (The Fosters) and Grace Phipps (Baby Daddy) are back.

Teen Beach 2 starts at the end of summer, as Brady (Lynch) and Mack (Mitchell) head back to school—only to discover that the stars of the 1960s surf movie “Wet Side Story” have somehow made it into the real world. It’s a race to get those characters back into the “movie world” before it’s too late.

Disney Channel will use the movie to help boost the series premiere of Best Friends Whenever, which launches right after Teen Beach 2. The new live-action comedy stars Lauren Taylor (Richie Rich) and Landry Bender (Crash & Bernstein) as time traveling teen best friends.

Meanwhile, for fans who can’t wait, Teen Beach 2 will be available on the Watch Disney Channel app (for verified users) on Friday, June 19. A soundtrack will be available June 23, while the DVD will be released on June 26.
