Disney Channel Sets Premiere Dates for TV Movie Descendants and New Sitcom Bunk’d
Disney Channel has settled on a premiere date for Descendants, its new TV movie about a group of teenagers who happen to be the sons and daughters of infamous Disney villains Cruella de Vil, Jafar, the Evil Queen and Maleficent.
Descendants, from director/choreographer Kenny Ortega (High School Musical), will air on Friday, July 31 at 8/7c. Directly after that, Disney Channel will premiere Bunk’d, a new spinoff of its hit sitcom Jessie.
Users of the network’s “Watch Disney Channel” app will have access to Descendants a week earlier, starting July 24.
A DVD version of Descendants will also be available at retainlers starting July 31, as will the soundtrack from Walt Disney Records. The movie will be available for purchase on iTunes, Amazon and Google Play starting Aug. 1.
Dove Cameron, Cameron Boyce, Booboo Stewart and Sofia Carson star as the troublemaking teens whose evil parents have been sequestered for decades. When the son of Beauty and the Beast‘s Belle and Beast takes the throne, he offers the teens a chance at redemption–and an opportunity to attend prep school alongside the teenage kids of Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Mulan and the Fairy Godmother.
The movie also stars Kristin Chenoweth, Kathy Najimy, Maz Jobrani, Wendy Raquel Robinson and Mitchell Hope.
As for Bunk’d, the show follows Jessie siblings Emma (Peyton List), Ravi (Karan Barr) and Zuri (Skai Jackson) as the attend summer camp in Maine.
