Keiynan Lonsdale Joins ‘The Flash’ as Wally West (aka. Kid Flash)
Looks like The Flash is making good on its promise to deliver a #multiverse storyline for Season 2! Keiynan Lonsdale has been cast as Wally West (better known to comic book fans as the first Kid Flash). Lonsdale joins actor Teddy Sears, who was cast as Jay Garrick (the original Flash in the comic books) last month.
Lonsdale is best known for his role as Uriah in Insurgent, in which he made his US debut. Before then, he hosted MTV News for MTV Australia and New Zealand. His next big-screen role will be a Coast Guard in Walt Disney’s The Finest Hours, alongside Chris Pine, Eric Bana, Ben Foster and Casey Affleck.
When it came to casting Wally West/Kid Flash, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said, “Just like when we met Grant for the first time, we instantly knew Keiynan embodied all the heart and courage of a hero. We are so excited to be bringing this much-beloved character onto the show.”
In the DC Universe, Kid Flash was a sidekick to The Flash, and Barry Allen was West’s mentor. Kid Flash helped found Teen Titans; when he grew up, he joined the Justice League and eventually assumed The Flash identity.
Other recent casting news includes Casper Crump as Vandal Savage, Halk Fentschel as Carter Hall/Hawkman and Shantel VanSanten as Patty Spivot, Joe’s new partner (RIP Eddie Thawne).
