Meet Fusion TV’s ‘Shade Queens of NYC’ (VIDEO)

If you’ve ever watched RuPaul’s Drag Race and longed to see what the life of a real, working drag queen is like beyond the studio lights and manufactured challenges of an unscripted competition show, you’re in luck. Fusion’s new 12-part docu-series Shade: Queens of NYC spotlights eight of the Big Apple’s most successful queens both in and out of drag.
Cameras follow performers Brita Filter, Chelsea Piers, Holly Box-Springs, Jada Valenciaga, Jasmine Rice LaBeija, Marti Gould Cummings, “Showbiz Spitfire” Paige Turner and Tina Burner as they negotiate their drag careers and their civilian lives in New York City.
The show’s opening highlights both the glitz and the reality, all to the tune of Lizzo’s “Worship Me.” Check it out below.
