Ryan Murphy has a history of working with the same stable of actors so it should come as no surprise that Connie Britton has joined the cast of Murphy’s 9-1-1 in a lead role, Fox announced Tuesday. The series from Murphy and producing partner Brad Falchuk is slated to premiere in 2018.

The former Nashville star, who appeared in Murphy’s The People v. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story and Season 1 of American Horror Story, joins previously announced Murphy favorite, Angela Bassett (American Horror Story), and Peter Krause in 9-1-1.

“9-1-1 explores the high-pressure experiences of police, paramedics and firefighters who are thrust into the most frightening, shocking and heart-stopping situations,” according to a release. “These emergency responders must try to balance saving those who are at their most vulnerable with solving the problems in their own lives.”

Britton will next be seen in Showtime’s SMILF, starring Rosie O’Donnell.
