Amazon Developing Marijuana Comedy with Margaret Cho

Amazon is high on Margaret Cho.
The streaming service has struck a deal with Cho to develop Highland, a comedy starring Cho as a woman who must undergo court-ordered rehab. As part of her agreement, she has a chance to start over–but must move in with her dysfunctional family.
Here’s the catch: Her family now runs a pot dispensary.
Liz Sarnoff (Deadwood, Lost) has signed on to write and executive produce the project. Cho will also executive produce with Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements.
Tomorrow Studios (a partnership between ITV Studios and Adelstein) and Amazon Studios are behind the show.
Highland hasn’t been ordered to pilot yet, but could eventually be a part of Amazon Prime’s ongoing frequent practice of showcasing pilots to viewers.
