Syfy Sets the Return Date for ’12 Monkeys’ and the Premiere of ‘Hunters’
Clear your Monday nights Syfy nerds, because two genre goodies are coming your way this spring.
At the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour in Pasadena today, execs announced the Monday April 11th premiere date for Hunters, the network’s new series about Baltimore FBI agent Flynn Carroll (Aussie hottie Nathan Phillips of Wolf Creek) whose search for his missing wife leads him to a top-secret government organization called the Exo-Terrorism Unit (ETU).
Ravenswood vet Britne Oldford costars as a secretive agent within the unit—which leads the battle against alien terrorists—along with Nip/Tuck‘s Julian McMahon, whose character is described as a “dangerously unhinged terrorist.” Additional cool points? The series is based on the novel Alien Hunter by Whitley Strieber, who also wrote Communion, and Gale Anne Hurd (The Walking Dead) serves as one of the executive producers.
A week later on April 18th, the superlative adaptation of 12 Monkeys also returns for its second season. Starring Aaron Stanford (Nikita), Amanda Schull (Suits), Kirk Acevedo (Fringe) and Todd Stashwick (Teen Wolf), the time-traveling drama, based on the 1996 Bruce Willis-Brad Pitt flick, will spend more time developing the relationships between the characters while also visiting new points in time.
Hunters‘ 13-episode first season debuts Monday, April 11 at 10/9c | 12 Monkeys returns Monday, April 18 at 9/8c
