NBC Renews ‘Days of Our Lives’ for Season 54
There aren’t many shows anywhere on the television landscape that can boast about being on the air for 54 years, but NBC’s long-running daytime drama Days of Our Lives is one that can. On Thursday, the Peacock network renewed the drama for a 54th season, as TVLine first reported.
“We’re very excited about having more great ‘Days’ in Salem,” said Bruce Evans, Executive Vice President, Current Programming, NBC Entertainment. “Ken Corday and his team continue to tell stories with which the ‘Days’ loyal audience feels a deep connection. We congratulate them on their remarkable daytime legacy and look forward to what they have planned for the new season.”
Executive Producer Ken Corday added, “We’re thrilled that the sands will continue flowing through the hourglass for yet another year. We are most grateful to NBC and Sony for their continued support of ‘Days of our Lives.’ Buckle up because we have some exciting and compelling new stories coming to Salem this season.”
The series aired its 13,000th episode last year. It debuted in 1965 as a half-hour serial before expanding to an hour 10 years later. Days has also received 52 Emmy Awards, including winning the Outstanding Daytime Drama statue in 2013 and 2015. The show has also won multiple People’s Choice Awards, GLAAD Media Awards and Prism Awards.
