CBS Picks Up a Modern Nancy Drew Pilot and ‘Upper Middle Bogan’ Adaptation
Is Nancy Drew the next great crime solver for CBS?
The network has ordered a pilot for Drew, a contemporary take on the iconic amateur sleuth. In the CBS version, Nancy—who is in her 30s—is using her extraordinary observational skills to solve crimes as a NYPD detective. Grey’s Anatomy/Madam Secretary vets Joan Rater and Tony Phelan are the writers/executive producers, and Dan Jinks is attached as an executive producer. The pilot comes from CBS Television Studios.

Additionally, CBS has ordered a comedy pilot for Untitled Butler/Hope/O’Shannon, a family series inspired by the Australian show, Upper Middle Bogan. The CBS comedy will follow a wife/mother who discovers she was adopted…and her biological parents are drag-racers. The series from the Australian creators of Upper Middle Bogan, Robyn Butler and Wayne Hope, as well as former Modern Family executive producer Dan O’Shannon. Todd Holland is also on board as a non-writing executive producer. The pilot comes from CBS Television Studio, ABC Studios and Dark Toy Entertainment.
