Chandra Wilson, who plays lovable Dr. Miranda Bailey on Grey’s Anatomy, is taping a guest appearance on General Hospital today, Monday, August 6.

The self-proclaimed soap devotee has appeared on the show before, but this time it’s a totally different role.

Back in early 2014, Wilson played Tina Estrada, a patient of Dr. Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom). This time, it’s Wilson who’s doling out advice as Dr. Francine Massey, a marriage and family therapist hired to counsel Aunt Stella (Emmy Award winner Vernee Watson), Jordan (Vinessa Antoine), and Curtis (Donnell Turner).

And given Stella’s feelings towards Jordan it’s safe to say that Dr. Massey has quite the task in front of her!

An air date for Wilson’s GH appearance wasn’t available at press time, but as soaps shoot on the average from two to six weeks in advance viewers can likely expect to see Wilson pop up in Port Charles before the end of the month.

One thing’s for sure: Wilson didn’t have to travel far from her regular gig on Grey’s to get to the GH soundstage. Both hospital-based series shoot on the same lot in Hollywood.
