‘Lethal Weapon’ Reboot Series Casts Clayne Crawford as the Lead

Clayne Crawford

Move over, Mel Gibson—there’s a new Martin Riggs in town.

Clayne Crawford (best known for Rectify and 24) has been tapped to star in the iconic Mel Gibson role in the new Lethal Weapon series on Fox. Last month, the network announced Damon Wayans, Jr. in the role of Roger Murtaugh, which Danny Glover made famous in the film.

Riggs is described as “a former Navy SEAL and Texas cop” who transfers to the LAPD, after losing his wife and child, and is partnered with an older, more experienced cop, Murtagh.

Other confirmed cast members include: Jordana Brewster as Dr. Maureen “Mo” Cahill, a new character who’s equal parts LAPD negotiator and therapist; Mad Men‘s Kevin Rahm as Captain Avery, a politically-savvy cop who pairs Riggs and Murtagh together; and Golden Brooks (Girlfriends) as Murtagh’s wife, Trish.

The series will be directed by McG, who also serves as an executive producer.
