‘Dancing With the Stars’ Sees the Return of Len Goodman and Edyta Sliwinska
What do Donald Trump’s ex-wife, the reigning Super Bowl MVP and a former teen starlet have in common? They’re all part of the latest crop of contestants who will bust a move—and hopefully not bust their egos—on Season 22 of Dancing With the Stars.
Actress Marla Maples, Denver Bronco Von Miller and The O.C. expat Mischa Barton are among the 12 celebrities shimmying into the ballroom for the glory of holding up the coveted Mirror Ball trophy. Other cast members include Geraldo Rivera, Fuller House’s Jodie Sweetin and The Facts of Life alum Kim Fields. “From early signs, I think everyone’s got a chance of winning,” executive producer Rob Wade says.
After taking a season off, judge Len Goodman returns. Also back in the fold is fan-favorite pro dancer Edyta Sliwinska—last seen in Season 10. But even she may not be enough to overcome the absence of six-time champ (and last fall’s winner, with Bindi Irwin) Derek Hough, who has opted to sit out this cycle. “The show is really a family,” Wade insists. “People come in, they leave, they come back. The door is always open.”
The pace of the competition will also feel different, as producers are hoping to add some more backstage fervor. “We’re determined to make people feel the energy and the excitement of what it’s like to be at a live event every week,” Wade says. “That’s our mission.”
