Netflix’s ‘Criminal’ Will Keep Viewers Guessing With Its Many Suspects
No car chases, no perp lineups, just detectives grilling suspects.
This series stands out from other crime dramas in that the 12 episodes — which each feature a different person of interest and are set in the U.K., France, Germany, or Spain — take place solely in the interrogation room.
“Some of the biggest breakthroughs in crimes happen [there],” says Jim Field Smith, a co-showrunner of Criminal, with George Kay. “We wanted to embrace that intensity.”
Guest stars playing suspects (including Avengers: Endgame‘s Hayley Atwell, above, second from right) will keep viewers in suspense throughout. Continues Smith, “We want [people] to be literally leaning forward, trying to determine guilt or innocence for themselves.”
Criminal, Series Premiere, Friday, September 20, Netflix
