‘Castle’ Canceled by ABC

Castle won’t be returning for a ninth season.

A source has confirmed to TV Insider that the long-running drama will end with its upcoming eighth season finale. The series (and ABC) had undergone scrutiny over the decision to let go of series regulars Stana Katic (Beckett) and Tamala Jones (Lanie) were let go, in part to accommodate budget cuts.

In recent weeks, most of the remaining cast had signed on to return for a planned ninth season. The now-series finale will air on Monday, May 16th.
