‘Star Trek’ Great Jonathan Frakes Boldly Goes Animated in Two Disney Series (VIDEO)
Get ready for a double dose of Jonathan Frakes. The sci-fi favorite, best known as Commander William T. Riker on Star Trek: The Next Generation, will head back into space for the Disney Junior animated series Miles From Tomorrowland (Monday, July 25, 9am/8c). He plays Vincent Callisto, grandfather of the show’s young heroes Miles and Loretta, who is a retired captain with the Tomorrowland Transit Authority. A Disney rep tells TV Insider that “Vincent was known in his younger days for confidently throwing himself into his missions and he continues to live a thrilling life.”
Though maybe not as thrilling as the life led by Steak Starbolt. Frakes will also lend his voice to the new Disney XD cartoon series Future-Worm! (Monday, August 1, 11am/10c) as the title character in a TV show called Steak Starbolt: The Best Generation. The plot finds young Danny and his pal Future-Worm traveling back in time to find out why Danny’s favorite breakfast treat, Captain Cakerz cereal, is mysteriously sold out. “Steak Starbolt is not your average starship captain,” notes the Disney rep. “He often makes rash decisions but they always turn out well in the end.”
