Emmys 2016: And the Winners Are…

The 68th Emmy Awards were handed out Sunday in Los Angeles, and Game of Thrones was the big winner, scoring its second straight outstanding drama series trophy and the epic “Battle of the Bastards” episode grabbed wins for both writing and directing. The HBO series won 12 total awards this year, including nine awards given out last week at the Creative Arts Emmys.
As expected as Thrones’ coronation was, the drama acting categories were somewhat of a surprise, with Mr. Robot’s Rami Malek and Orphan Black’s Tatiana Maslany scoring their first wins.

The comedy awards largely held to form, with Veep winning outstanding comedy series for the second year in a row and its star, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, taking her fifth straight trophy as lead actress. Transparent’s Jeffrey Tambor took the lead actor award for the second consecutive year.
The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story dominated the limited series/movie section, landing the outstanding limited series title and taking three of the four acting categories.
