Dolly Parton Plays the ‘Town Harlot’ in Holiday Sequel to ‘Coat of Many Colors’

Adorable, pint-size Dolly Parton returns in NBC’s sequel to 2015’s Coat of Many Colors, the hit movie based on Parton’s song of the same name.
The holiday-themed Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love pays homage not only to Parton’s parents and Tennessee hometown, but also to a very special local who encouraged young Dolly to share her amazing voice with the world—the town harlot, played by Parton herself (above, with Alyvia Alyn Lind as young Dolly).

“I was impressed with the town trollop when I was growing up,” Parton says. “I loved her hair, her makeup and her clothes. I wanted to look just like her when I grew up. Guess what? I do!”
When Dolly “sees the woman she called ‘The Painted Lady,’” says executive producer Sam Haskell, “it is pure screen magic.”
Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love, Wednesday, November 30, NBC.
