‘Bridgerton’ Trailer Teases Polin’s Mirror Moment as Lady Whistledown Secret Looms (VIDEO)
Dearest gentle reader, the wait for Bridgerton Season 3, Part 2 is nearly over as June 13th approaches, but Netflix is keeping the anticipation at an all-time high with the reveal of a new trailer and images for the continuation of Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin’s (Luke Newton), a.k.a. Polin’s, love story.
In the two-minute trailer, Lady Whistledown welcomes viewers back to the Ton following the joyous engagement of Penelope and Colin following their steamy carriage ride at the end of Part 1. “Last night, an announcement came with great speed,” Julie Andrews’ narration reveals as the Bridgerton family’s reaction to the news is uncovered. While Violet (Ruth Gemmell) is clearly ecstatic, Eloise (Claudia Jessie) is less so as her and Penelope’s falling out over Whistledown is ongoing.
And it seems that the gossip figure will play a central role as her true identity remains a mystery to Colin. “Who needs fresh air when there is fresh gossip?” Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh) questions aloud, to her brother Lord Marcus Anderson (Daniel Francis). She is quite pleased to learn about the engagement as others have mixed reactions, mainly with Portia Featherington (Polly Walker) displaying initial shock before embracing the advantages of what a Bridgerton-Featherington match could mean.

While Penelope isn’t forthcoming about her Whistledown secret, she finally admits, “I have always loved you, Colin. There is nothing that makes me happier than being with you,” putting her long-felt feelings on the table now that they’re together. Sharing a dance, things couldn’t seem better for the couple who also seem to get quite steamy in front of a long-anticipated mirror.
When Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and Benedict (Luke Thompson) question their brother about his sudden engagement, he tells them everything happened quite “suddenly” for him. The implication leads Benedict to jestfully ask Anthony if he’s going to duel his own brother for possibly dishonoring a proper lady like Penelope.
But Polin’s perfect blissful bubble can’t go on forever and Eloise appears to be the one who will pop it. When Eloise confronts Penelope for keeping her secret from Colin, she threatens to reveal the secret and makes a pointed toast, saying, “Here is to truly knowing each other, completely.”
As Eloise puts it, Colin can’t love Penelope until he knows the whole truth, but she’s determined to keep Whistledown a secret as long as possible. Will she be successful? Some moments in the trailer hint that it won’t be as it appears Colin has camped out on the couch while Penelope seemingly sleeps in a different room. Could this be what married life is like for them?
It seems like Colin could catch onto Penelope’s gossip columnist gig as he notices ink splotches on her hands and the pair seem to have a heated exchange where she says, “Colin, I can take care of myself,” to which he responds, “Then what good am I to you?” Even if there’s some drama unfolding, there’s still plenty of romance as the trailer unveils sweet moments between Francesca (Hannah Dodd) and her suitor John Stirling (Victor Alli) as well as returning Season 2 leads Anthony and Kate (Simone Ashley).
And despite seeing another man on Lady Tilley’s (Hannah New) arm, Benedict carries a smile for his widow mistress of the season. Meanwhile, Violet shares a dance with Marcus, Cressida (Jessica Madsen) seems to debut a new look, and Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel) turns to Brimsley (Hugh Sachs) amid her ongoing contention with Lady Whistledown.
