Peter Morgan (Creator), The Crown, Best Television Series Drama

“Beyond thrilled — for the show of course, but in particular for our new cast. We all knew how hard it would be to follow the previous gang — but they have done that and more. We could not be happier with the audience response around the world and thank the HFPA for this acknowledgement.”

“I am beyond excited and honored to be nominated for my first ever Golden Globe along with our series! Everyone in our Politician family has worked so hard on our show and done so with such love, so I’m very grateful that the HFPA has recognized us and I’m proud of my extraordinary ensemble. Congratulations to all the other very deserving nominees (especially my best friend Beanie Feldstein)!!”

Susannah Grant (Showrunner), Unbelievable, Best Television Limited Series

“This is thrilling, especially given Unbelievable’s challenging subject matter. To see all the hard work of our whole team honored by the HFPA in this way is really exciting. It’s equally thrilling to see Toni, Merritt and Kaitlyn to all be individually recognized for their remarkable performances. They’re a dream team of actors who each brought so much to Unbelievable, and are all fully deserving of this great honor.”

Sacha Baron Cohen, The Spy, Best Actor in a Limited Series

“A heartfelt thank you to the members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for this honour. I have long wanted to move away from comedy and do something uncommercial, not reliant on jokes, that few people would see — which I achieved with the The Brothers Grimsby. I am hugely proud of The Spy and thrilled that it has been seen and embraced by audiences around the globe. I share this recognition with Eli Cohen’s family and everyone who worked on The Spy. I’d also like to express my thanks to the brilliant team at Netflix and to our visionary writer/director Gidi Raff.”

Kaitlyn Dever, Unbelievable, Best Actress in a Limited Series (To TV Insider)

“Right before I got on the phone with you, I was getting really emotional. I don’t think it really hit me this morning. It just kind of did. I was standing in my room, silent, waiting to get on the phone with you. I just got so overwhelmed. It’s so exciting.”
“I’m so proud of Merritt. I can’t even tell you how much I look up to her and I think she’s just an incredible woman and an incredible actor. It feels amazing to be among all of the women in the category. I just feel so lucky for the people involved in Unbelievable. I’m thinking about how hard it is to get jobs and then to get a job, it takes an extreme amount of hard work, and for it to be recognized and for the people behind the show to trust you with all of that, especially with a role like this one, I just feel extremely lucky and it’s been such an amazing journey. I’m so excited about this. … It’s really, really gratifying, and I feel incredibly honored.”

Billy Porter as Pray Tell in Pose - Season 2, Episode 4 - Never Knew Love Like This Before

Billy Porter, Pose, Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series — Drama (To TV Insider)

“I went to bed and took a sleeping pill so I could sleep through it and wake up to whatever the news was going to be. Too emotional. … I just never knew it could look like this. When I got into this business 30 years ago, I was just trying to be masculine enough by society’s standards to work. Who I was and what I represent I was told would be my liability for the rest of my life, and it’s not. I’m proof positive that authenticity is the only way and the truth is the only way. … I get to represent my people. I get to represent what my generation went through. I get to tell that story, and stories create empathy and empathy creates change. It’s a gift to be able to be part of this project like that.”

Chuck Lorre (Creator), The Kominsky Method, Best Television Series — Musical or Comedy (To TV Insider)

“I was in a deep REM sleep when the phone rang. What a way to be jolted out of unconsciousness. It was just terrific. … I’m just immensely grateful that the Hollywood Foreign Press acknowledged the show in its second season. I’m still excited about last year, but to be nominated again and to be invited to the best part in town, it’s a great acknowledgement of a lot of hard work. … The second season, I was determined to shift the focus … to one that spoke of hope, that life goes on and as long as life goes on, there’s hope and the potential for love and happiness and all the things that can seem to be in your rearview mirror at a certain age. The fact that it’s been embraced and acknowledged is deeply, deeply rewarding.”

“The last time I got a Golden Globe nomination was 2005. My eldest boy was 1 year old and my youngest not even on the horizon. My personal gratitude and deep affection go out to Naomi Watts, Sienna Miller, Annabelle Wallis, Aleksa Palladino, Seth MacFarlane, Simon McBurney and Josh Stamberg among others who made a complex and difficult job so much easier.”
