Golden Globes 2018: Stars Wearing Black on the Red Carpet (PHOTOS)
Sunday night kicks off the first awards show event of the 2018 season: the 75th Annual Golden Globes. Actors from both TV and film will be honored for their work this year and Seth Meyers is ready to make you laugh as host while also using the stage to tackle a serious issue in Hollywood: sexual misconduct.
2017 was a year of reckoning. Top Tinseltown producer Harvey Weinstein was accused of sexual harassment and assault by over 80 women and thereby ousted from his company, longtime Today show anchor Matt Lauer was fired, and award-winning actor Kevin Spacey was removed entirely from the newly released movie All the Money in the World (for which stand-in Christopher Plummer was nominated for a Globe) and the hit Netflix series House of Cards.
In protest and solidarity, many of the female actresses in Hollywood have decided to band together and wear black on the Golden Globes red carpet. And many of the most influential women on the carpet have also launched Time’s Up, an initiative that will fight sexual harassment, inequality, and abuse in the workplace.
The Golden Globes will no doubt set the tone for the 2018 awards show season and hopefully bring out the change in Hollywood it so desperately needs.
