‘Hacks’: Deborah & Ava Reunite in Season 3’s Hookup-Heavy Trailer (VIDEO)
The girls are back, and they’re “still standing,” as Elton John‘s “I’m Still Standing,” plays in the background of Hacks‘ Season 3 trailer reuniting Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) and Ava (Hannah Einbinder).
Officially set to premiere Thursday, May 2 with two episodes, Season 3 of Hacks will include nine new installments with two dropping each week until the finale arrives on May 30 on Max. The Emmy-winning series, which started as a mentor-mentee tale between an aging standup comic and a young comedy writer, picks up a year after the dynamic duo parted ways at the end of Season 2.

Following the success of her standup special, Ava begins the season riding high, while Ava is pursuing new opportunities in Los Angeles, but as the teaser trailer (above) reveals, it won’t be long before they’re back together again. They bump into each other while taking an elevator, and it will be interesting to see where the story takes these two women whose working relationship seemed to conclude at the end of last season.
Also back for the fun alongside Smart and Einbinder are returning cast members Paul W. Downs, Megan Stalter, Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Kaitlin Olson, Christopher McDonald, Mark Indelicato, Rose Abdoo, and Lorenza Izzo. And while comedy continues to reign supreme, it appears that there is some serious drama and even hookups unfolding in the borderline steamy teaser, which sees Smart kissing previously announced guest star Tony Goldwyn and Einbinder getting into bed with another newbie to the series, Mad Men‘s Christina Hendricks. Additional guest stars set to appear include Helen Hunt, Christopher Lloyd, Dan Bucatinsky, and George Wallace.
Created by Downs, Lucia Aniello, and Jen Statsky, the series appears to be hitting the refresh button with this latest chapter. See the trailer to decide for yourself, above, and don’t miss the latest photos released by Max featuring your favorite characters and a new face or two below.
