Stretch it out! Mascitti had Ellis in the gym up to an hour a day, five to six days a week, requiring the star to stay limber. Equally important: a strict diet of protein and veggies. Says Mascitti: “I didn’t let him eat bread.”

Ellis’s dedication would impress any athlete. “He made me [train him over] FaceTime — on my birthday when I was in Mexico!” laughs Mascitti, who works with Ellis’s costars Kevin Alejandro and Lesley-Ann Brandt too.

Instead of crunches and other core work, Mascitti employed high-intensity interval training and isometrics to tone the 6-foot-3 star. Ellis himself wanted big arms: “Now I feel like his biceps are [great]!” says Mascitti.

Due to what Mascitti calls “a slight problem” with Ellis’s back, the actor had to stay focused on form during each workout, especially when it came to deadlifts. Marvels Mascitti: “He’s extremely strong.”
