The people behind Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and 30 Rock — Robert Carlock, Sam Means, and Tina Fey — have once again teamed up, now for a new adult animated comedy on Netflix, and it features a star-studded lineup in the voice cast.
The streaming service has announced that Mulligan premieres Friday, May 12. It stars Nat Faxon, Chrissy Teigen, Fey, Sam Richardson, Dana Carvey, and Phil LaMarr, while Daniel Radcliffe, Ayo Edebiri, Ronny Chieng, and Kevin Michael Richardson recur.
In Mulligan, “after Earth is destroyed by an alien attack, a rag-tag band of survivors has to start society over from scratch,” Netflix teases. “It’s an opportunity to learn from humanity’s past mistakes and get things right this time. Or make the same mistakes all over again. Probably the second one.”
Along with character photos, there’s a sneak peek of the series, which you can watch above. It offers a look at the attack itself and introduces Matty (Faxon), who ends up saving the world. “I got this. I may not be smart. The only real job I ever had was letting scientists spray perfume in my eyes,” he admits, and his date Lucy (Teigen) interrupts to tell him, “Earth is counting on you.” And it seems they’re right to … at that moment at least. After, is a completely different story.
Carlock and Means co-created the series and serve as co-showrunners. They executive produce with Fey, David Miner, Eric Gurian, Scott Greenberg, and Joel Kuwahara. The series is produced by Universal Television (a division of NBCUniversal Content Studios) in association with Little Stranger, Inc., Bevel Gears, 3 Arts Entertainment, and Bento Box Entertainment.
