‘NCIS’: Sneak Peek at Team’s First Season 22 Case — Where’s Knight? (PHOTOS)

When NCIS returns for its 22nd season, there’s one question everyone needs answered: Where is Jessica Knight (Katrina Law)? The finale ended with her accepting the job of chief REACT training officer on the West Coast, but something has to bring her back to D.C., her team, and Dr. Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen), right?

Well, she is shown in the photos for the October 14 premiere, “Empty Nest.” In addition to those images, CBS has released a logline: “NCIS searches for a missing undercover agent in the midst of an active hostage situation.” The photos offer a look at Knight geared up in the field as well as Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) somewhere and McGee (Sean Murray), Vance (Rocky Carroll), and Kasie (Diona Reasonover) in the forensic scientist’s lab looking pretty serious.

That hostage situation seems like just the thing to bring Knight back into contact with her former team—and them a chance to convince her where she belongs (back with them). Something tells us that will happen, or at least we’ll see the beginnings of that in the premiere. But will that first Season 22 episode also put things right between her and Palmer? Our guess is that will take a bit longer—and we might have to wait to see them reunited and solid like they once were.

Season 22 also has to explain who “Lily” is. Parker (Gary Cole), while injured in the Season 21 finale, hallucinated a young girl he seemed to have known when he was a child, but when Knight later asked who she was, he claimed not to know. Will that be revealed in the premiere, or will we have to wait for that answer?
