‘Nip/Tuck’ Turns 20: 15 Big-Name Guest Stars From the Show
It’s been 20 years since Nip/Tuck debuted, but of course, Dr. Sean McNamara (Dylan Walsh) and Dr. Christian Troy (Julian McMahon) can make it look like it’s been only five years, 10 tops.
The Golden Globe-winning FX drama — created by Ryan Murphy when he was still a Hollywood upstart — followed the staff and patients of McNamara/Troy, a prestigious but scandal-plagued plastic surgery practice in Miami (and later Los Angeles).

Alec Baldwin
The 30 Rock alum and frequent SNL host guest starred in Nip/Tuck’s second season as Dr. Barrett Moore, ex-husband of Ava Moore (Famke Janssen).
Jennifer Coolidge
Long before she was the Emmy-winning star of The White Lotus, Coolidge made multiple appearances on Nip/Tuck as attention-hungry actor Candy Richards.
Bradley Cooper
Cooper, now a nine-time Academy Award nominee, recurred on Nip/Tuck as Aidan Stone, an actor on the show-within-a-show Hearts ’N Scalpels.
Peter Dinklage
Nip/Tuck’s fourth season boasted this future Game of Thrones star in the role of Marlowe Sawyer, a love interest for Julia McNamara (Joely Richardson).
Boris Kodjoe
This Station 19 actor had a one-off appearance in Season 5 as Elton Forrest, a patient who introduces Sean and Christian to a group of swingers.
Sanaa Lathan
Known for her starring role in the film Love & Basketball, Lathan played escort-turned-business owner Michelle Landau in Nip/Tuck Season 4.
Mario Lopez
This Saved by the Bell alum and Access Hollywood host appeared — sometimes sans clothing — as plastic surgeon Dr. Mike Hamoui in eight episodes.
Donna Mills
Well after Knots Landing, Mills guest starred on Nip/Tuck as Lulu Grandiron, a socialite who tries to recruit Christian to be her friend group’s new plastic surgeon.
Mo’Nique
In Season 4, this Oscar-winning Precious star popped up as Evetta Washington, a nurse to the wealthy McNamara/Troy patient Hedda Grubman (Ruth Williamson).
Alanis Morissette
“You Oughta Know” this singer-songwriter recurred as Poppy, an anesthesiologist girlfriend of Liz (Roma Maffia), in Nip/Tuck’s fourth season.
Sarah Paulson
Prior to her breakout role(s) on American Horror Story, Paulson guest starred in Season 2 as Agatha Ripp, a woman who claims to have stigmata.
Vanessa Redgrave
In a case of art mirroring life, Julia’s mom on Nip/Tuck, Dr. Erica Noughton, is played by Richardson’s real-life mother, this Oscar-winning star of Julia.
Joan Rivers
This late comedian and Fashion Police cohost played a fictionalized version of herself in Seasons 2, 3, and 6.
J.K. Simmons
