For the first three weeks of the season, the freshman series has beat out the fan favorite in its historic 21st season in viewers: 4.56 million to 3.84 on September 26, 4.2 to 3.44 on October 3, and 3.67 to 3.42 on October 10.
The Neighborhood beats Dancing With the Stars
For the first two weeks, the CBS comedy had the edge in the key rating, 0.9 to 0.8.
9-1-1 overpowers The Voice
While the NBC singing competition received a higher rating premiere night on September 23 (1.7 to 1.6), the Fox drama had the edge the following two weeks (1.6 to 1.5 on September 30 and 1.7 to 1.5 on October 7).
mixed-ish is bringing in more viewers than black-ish
For the first three weeks, more people have watched the spinoff than the original series: 3.91 million to 3.49 on September 24, 3.51 to 3.13 on October 1, and 3.43 to 3.05 on October 8.
Emergence‘s premiere bests NCIS: New Orleans
The NCIS spinoff just lost out to the new ABC drama on premiere night, September 24, with a 0.7 rating to its 0.8.
Empire beat FBI
For its final season premiere, the Fox drama edged out the CBS procedural with a 1.0 rating (to 0.9).
Bluff City Law provides tough competition for Bull
In the first two weeks, the new legal drama had the ratings edge (0.8 to 0.7 and 0.7 to 0.6). And in the third week, the two shows tied.
Chicago Med beats The Masked Singer
Though the Fox hit had more viewers in premiere week, it lost out to the beginning of the One Chicago night on NBC the following two weeks (6.97 million viewers to 7.67 and 7.11 to 7.47).
Almost Family got the edge over SEAL Team
On October 9, the new Fox drama had a slightly higher rating in the key demographic, adults 18-49: 0.7 to 0.6.
We’re a few weeks into the 2019-2020 season, and there have been a few unexpected ratings results.
Established favorites and long-running dramas like Law & Order: SVU and NCIS: New Orleans have lost out in a few instances to new series and spinoffs, like mixed-ish, EVIL and Emergence. And singing competition hits like The Voice did drop a bit following their season premieres.
