‘Survivor’ Season 39: Meet the Castaways of ‘Island of the Idols’ (PHOTOS)
A group of new castaways are ready to compete against each other in another season of Survivor.
CBS announced the 20 castaways taking part in Season 39, with the theme “Island of the Idols.” Two legendary winners, Boston Rob Mariano and Sandra Diaz-Twine, who have played over 200 days of Survivor combined, return to the game as mentors.
During the 39 days, some castaways will be given the opportunity to visit the Island of the Idols, in various ways throughout the season, to learn skills and strategies from these “idols.” The players will have to decide whether to put their knowledge to the test for a chance at a possible advantage or risk losing something very important. The castaways are competing for $1 million and the title of Sole Survivor.
“For our 39th season, we are bringing back two of our most dominant winners to serve as mentors to a new group of castaways,” executive producer and host Jeff Probst said in a statement. “It’s a Survivor boot camp where each week, players will be instructed on a different facet of the game and then have a chance to test what they’ve learned for a shot at an advantage.”
