Meet the Cast of Netflix’s ‘The Haunting of Bly Manor’ (PHOTOS)
The first images for The Haunting of Bly Manor have finally arrived and they feature some very familiar faces.
The latest chapter in Mike Flanagan’s horror anthology series for Netflix will explore a new story with the help of some returning cast members as Bly Manor follows 2018’s The Haunting of Hill House. Among the returning cast are Victoria Pedretti, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Henry Thomas and Kate Siegel, all of whom were a part of the tragic Crain family in The Haunting‘s first outing.
Now, there’s a slew of newbies joining the mix but some of their stories and characters have yet to be defined as the only logline available for the season teases, “Based on the illustrious works of Henry James, The Haunting of Bly Manor is an all-new chapter in The Haunting… anthology series.”
For those less familiar with Henry James, Bly Manor is an estate plucked from the pages of his novella The Turn of the Screw which follows the story of a governess who is charged to care for two young children on the remote English countryside. When strange things start happening, she quickly begins to understand that the supernatural also have a place at the manor.
Set in the 1890s, The Turn of the Screw‘s dated setting will be updated for audiences as the story settles in the 1980s. Below, we break down who is who in this forthcoming drama which is slated to arrive this fall on the streamer.
The Haunting of Bly Manor, Coming Fall 2020, Netflix
T’nia Miller will portray Hannah Grose, the manager of Bly Manor. Plucked from the pages of James’s novella, this new interpretation of the character Ms. Grose will no doubt play an integral role in the story as she did in The Turn of the Screw.
Amelie Smith will play Flora, one of the two children being looked after at Bly Manor. In The Turn of the Screw, the young girl is known to be bright spirited.
Benjamin Ainsworth will play Miles in the series. Brother of Flora, the young boy will grapple with more than just inner-turmoil as specters haunt the halls of Bly Manor. How will it affect his new tutor?
As an orphan, will memories of the past haunt Flora?
Henry Thomas, who played a young Hugh Crain in Hill House, returns to The Haunting Universe as Henry Wingrave. He’ll play Miles and Flora’s uncle Henry Wingrave. While the character was unnamed in The Turn of the Screw, the surname of Thomas’ character could be inspired by Henry James’s other famous ghost story Owen Wingrave.
Remembered for her role as Nell Crain (or Bent Neck Lady) in Hill House, Victoria Pedretti returns as Dani, a tutor who is hired to care for and teach Bly Manor’s Miles and Flora. But will her decision to work at the countryside locale backfire?
Oliver Jackson-Cohen will play Peter Quint, a character that existed in The Turn of the Screw. Whether or not Haunting‘s version of the estate employee will be the same as Henry James’s iteration remains to be seen, but the actor did tease a little about his role in a casting announcement video. According to Jackson-Cohen, Peter “is a charming young man who lives at Bly… he makes life difficult for everyone there.”
Seen here with Amelie Smith as Flora, Tahirah Sharif will portray Rebecca Jessel, a woman who filled the same position that Dani accepts at Bly Manor. Her fate will play a major role within the series if she’s anything like the Miss Jessel from James’s writing.
Newbie Amelia Eve will play the role of Jamie in the upcoming episodes of Bly Manor. She is a groundskeeper at the estate.
Seen here with T’nia Miller, Rahul Kohli will portray Owen, a chef at Bly Manor who could be the show’s interpretation of The Turn of the Screw‘s Luke or another nod to Owen Wingrave. Other details about the iZombie actor’s role haven’t been revealed at this time.
