‘The Resident’: Nic Returns to Work After Her Attack & Faces Her Trauma Head-on (PHOTOS)

Nurse practitioner Nic Nevin (Emily VanCamp) returns to work on perhaps the worst day possible on The Resident: It’s the same day the man who stabbed her is admitted to the ER.
Yes, that means she’ll be facing her trauma head-on in the March 9 episode, “First Days, Last Days” — and therefore this storyline continues to remind us of ER‘s John Carter (Noah Wyle) and Lucy Knight (Kellie Martin) getting stabbed and the former running into their attacker at the hospital in a subsequent season.
“She’s definitely suffering from a bit of PTSD from it, but Nic’s also just trying to move ahead and move on,” VanCamp told TV Insider. How will seeing her attacker again affect that? Check out the photos below for a look at Nic back at work.
Also glimpsed in the images from this episode is new intern Leela (Anuja Joshi), who “struggles and shines throughout her first day, causing Devon [Manish Dayal] and Conrad [Matt Czuchry] to wonder if something bigger is going on,” the logline teases.
“[Leela] is a very complicated and interesting person with an obstacle in her own life she has to overcome,” co-creator Amy Holden Jones shared before the premiere of the character who will factor into Devon’s love life this season.
Scroll down for a sweet moment between newlyweds Conrad and Nic, more of the newest series regular Jessica Lucas as Billie — including with Chastain’s new CEO Kit (Jane Leeves) — and more.
