18 Actors Promoted to Series Regulars Ahead of the 2020-21 Season
With a new season of television comes cast changes. While that does include some departures, there is also good news for some of your favorite characters.
Looking ahead to the 2020-2021 season, there are several previously guest starring or recurring actors who will now be series regulars, which will (presumably) mean seeing more of them. Whether you’re a fan of first responders (like on 9-1-1 and Grey’s Anatomy), superhero dramas (like The Flash), or the courtroom (like All Rise), we’ve got you covered. 9-1-1's John Harlan Kim
Kim plays firefighter Howie “Chimney” Kim’s (Kenneth Choi) younger half-brother, Albert, who was introduced in Season 3.
A Million Little Things' Floriana Lima
Lima plays Darcy, Katherine’s (Grace Park) friend and Gary’s (James Roday Rodriguez) girlfriend. (He chose her over ex-girlfriend Maggie, played by Allison Miller.) She was introduced in Season 2 and is sticking around for Season 3, TVLine reports.
All Rise's Audrey Corsa
After appearing in eight episodes of Season 1, Corsa is sticking around as law clerk Samantha Powell, Deadline reports. Described as “incredibly smart, unintimidated, [and] with a dry humor, she’s determined to make herself an invaluable member of the team.” Now, she’ll have more time to do just that.
All Rise's Lindsey Gort
Gort plays private defense lawyer Amy Quinn, who’s dating Deputy District Attorney Mark Callan (Wilson Bethel) and recurred in Season 1.
The Blacklist's Laura Sohn
Sohn plays Agent Alina Park and recurred in Season 7.
Chicago Fire's Daniel Kyri
After recurring for two years, Kyri, who plays firefighter Darren Ritter, is part of the series full time for Season 9.
DC's Legends of Tomorrow's Shayan Sobhian
Sobhian, who debuted in Season 4 and recurred in Season 5, plays Behrad Tarazi, Zari’s (Tala Ashe) brother who was brought back to life as a result of a change in the timeline.
The Flash's Brandon McKnight
McKnight, who plays tech genius Chester P. Runk, debuted in the Season 6 premiere and then recurred.
The Flash's Kayla Compton
Compton recurred in Season 6 as meta Allegra Garcia, whose doppelgänger worked for Tom Cavanagh‘s Nash on another Earth.
Grey's Anatomy's Anthony Hill
Hill guest starred in one Season 16 episode as Dr. Winston Ndugu, Dr. Maggie Pierce’s (Kelly McCreary) new love interest.
Grey's Anatomy's Richard Flood
Flood recurred in Season 16 as Dr. Cormac Hayes, a.k.a. McWidow and a gift (hello, love triangle!) for Ellen Pompeo‘s Dr. Meredith Grey, courtesy of Cristina Yang.
NCIS: New Orleans' Chelsea Field
Field has been recurring as Rita Devereaux, a district attorney and her real-life husband Scott Bakula’s (Special Agent Dwayne Pride) girlfriend since debuting in Season 3’s “The Last Stand.” She’s been promoted ahead of Season 7.
Riverdale's Drew Ray Tanner
Not only are we going to see more of Fangs Fogarty with Tanner’s promotion ahead of Season 5, but it sounds like there’s good news for his and Kevin’s (Casey Cott) relationship even after the upcoming time jump of seven years. “We’re all thrilled he’s joining us for season five as a series regular, living with on-again, off-again boyfriend Kevin Keller and Serpent Queen Toni Topaz,” executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said to E! News about Tanner. “Also happy to announce that we’ll see more of Drew SINGING!”
Station 19's Stefania Spampinato
Spampinato is making the leap to the Grey’s spinoff, on which her character Dr. Carina DeLuca’s girlfriend is firefighter Maya Bishop (Danielle Savre).
Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist's Alice Lee
One of several promotions ahead of Season 2 is Lee, who plays Emily, the titular character’s sister-in-law, and according to NBC, she’ll be “balancing the joys and pains of new motherhood while coping with a newly grieving family.”
Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist's Andrew Leeds
The actor who plays Zoey’s (Jane Levy) brother, David, was also upped to series regular ahead of Season 2, during which his character is dealing “with losing his father while becoming a father for the first time.”
Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist's Kapil Talwalkar
Talwalker’s Tobin, who works at Sprq Point with Zoey, “uses humor and insults to mask a deep inner complexity” in Season 2.
Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist's Michael Thomas Grant
After recurring in Season 1, Grant’s character, Leif, “suddenly finds himself in a new position at Sprq Point.”
