TV shows come and go, but there are some we still feel were gone too soon — and sometimes we question the decisions that were made behind canceling these great shows, including ones with positive critical reviews.

For instance, how could anyone have canceled a great reimagining of the classic novel Anne of Green Gables? We still question years later why Freaks and Geeks was canceled even though it was fantastic. Then there are the shows, like the groundbreaking sports drama Pitch, that were axed after only one season!

Below is a list of eight shows we wish were not canceled so early. Let us know what we missed in the comments!

Kathryn Newton in 'The Society'

The Society

This modern take on Lord of the Flies showcases a group of teens returning home to find all the adults have suddenly vanished. This show was riveting and quite entertaining, and we will continue to hope that one day Netflix will finally make a second season — especially since we’ve gotten teases about what it would have entailed.

Amybeth McNulty in 'Anne With an E'

Anne With an E

Another Netflix show that was gone too soon has to be Anne With an E. This fresh retelling of the beloved and timeless story of Anne of Green Gables was loved by audiences all over the world, as was, especially, the character of Anne (Amybeth McNulty), who not only won the hearts of those in the small town of Avonlea but also the hearts of all the viewers. This beautiful testament of girlhood will continue to be missed.

Freaks and Geeks

One would think this show had multiple seasons by the way people continue to talk about it years later. Audiences love gripping stories of high schoolers, and this show was no exception. Who doesn’t love a coming-of-age story about a high school misfit and his friends? Freaks and Geeks had a high school story that resonated with everyone.

Kylie Bunbury in 'Pitch'

Pitch

When Kylie Bunbury‘s character becomes the first woman to join Major League Baseball, she embarks on a journey full of challenges and new barriers to break down. Pitch was unique in every aspect, yet it was sadly canceled after just one season.

Jon Bernthal in 'The Punisher'
Jessica Miglio/Netflix

Marvel's The Punisher

The Punisher is just one of the countless Marvel stories to grace our televisions, showcasing the story of the titular anti-hero (Jon Bernthal), who not only seeks revenge on those who have wronged him but also aims to protect the common good. While The Punisher was canceled, we will see Bernthal reprise his role on Daredevil: Born Again.

Hayley Atwell in 'Agent Carter'

Marvel's Agent Carter

After a glimpse of her character in the first Captain America film, Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) gets her own spotlight in this two-season show. Peggy is a strong female character in the world of Marvel, and this show really highlighted that, proving just how important she was to the development of S.H.I.E.L.D. We believe this beloved character deserved more of a story than what she received.

Abigail Cowen in 'Fate: The Winx Saga'
Jonathan Hession/Netflix

Fate: The Winx Saga

This live-action version had audiences unsure about whether it would do the beloved animated series justice. However, it provided audiences with a fresh take on the beloved fairies, but before their stories could be expanded the show was canceled — and to make matters worse, it ended on a cliffhanger!

Pushing Daisies - Chi McBride, Lee Pace, Anna Friel, Swoosie Kurtz, Ellen Greene, and Kristin Chenoweth
ABC

Pushing Daisies

This cancellation might stir up some feelings, since this show was axed due to the writers strike in 2007-08 (and we’re currently in the midst of one now). This show took a lighter approach to the supernatural, following Ned (Lee Pace), who possesses the rare ability to bring the dead back alive. However, this show was more of a journey of friendship and romance, which is why we would have loved to have seen more of it.
