Earpers, was the wait for Season 4 worth it? It’s almost time to find out.

Wynonna Earp returns with six new episodes — those that were filmed before production was shut down — on July 26. Because it’s been quite a while since we last saw demon hunter Wynonna (Melanie Scrofano), her sister Waverly (Dominique Provost-Chalkley), Doc Holliday (Tim Rozon), and Sheriff Nicole Haught (Katherine Barrell), we thought we’d help out and recap what you need to remember about the Season 3 finale (which aired in September 2018).

From a certain curse being broken to relationship statuses (a WayHaught wedding! The definition of “it’s complicated”?), scroll down for all the details to keep in mind heading into Season 4.

The Earp curse is broken

According to the curse, Earp heirs (upon turning 27, with the gun Peacemaker) were the only ones who could stop all the people Wyatt had killed, resurrected as demons/revenants. But then the demon Bulshar (Jean Marchand), who had been responsible for the curse in the first place, broke it.

Wynonna no longer has Peacemaker

As a result of the curse being broken, Wynonna is without the gun she’s relied on for three seasons. But as the trailer shows, she still has plenty of weapons.

Wynonna Earp Season 3 Finale Waverly Doc Garden
Syfy

Waverly and Doc are in the Garden

Wynonna was able to defeat Bulshar, but not before he gave her quite the snake bite. (Good thing vampire Doc was able to suck the poison out of her.) Then, Waverly was dragged into the Garden of Eden by vines, and Doc was able to get past the barrier Wynonna couldn’t to follow her in to save her.

Wynonna Early Nedley Left in Purgatory Season 3 Finale
Syfy

Wynonna and Nedley were seemingly the only ones left in Purgatory

When Wynonna returned to the town and the homestead, she was seemingly the only one left, until she found (former Sheriff) Nedley (Greg Lawson) at the local bar, Shorty’s. “Let’s get them back,” she told him.

Wynonna Earp Waverly Father
Syfy

Waverly met her father

After learning that she wasn’t an Earp, Waverly understandably had questions about her father. It turned out he was an angel, Charlie/Julian (Sebastian Pigott), and also Wynonna’s ex-boyfriend. (He sacrificed himself in the fight against Bulshar.)

Wynonna Earp Doc Holliday Vampire Season 3
Syfy

Doc's a vampire

During Season 3, Doc reunited with his wife, vampire Kate (Chantel Riley), and regained his immortality by having her turn him. As he got the bloodsucking side of himself under control, the others had trouble trusting him. (Wynonna even left him handcuffed at the homestead in the finale.)

Wynonna Earp Season 3 Finale Valdez
Syfy

The name Valdez left at the Earp homestead

After defeating Bulshar and losing Waverly and Doc to the Garden, Wynonna headed home, where she had left her drugged friends, Nicole, Jeremy (Varun Saranga), and his boyfriend Robin (Justin Kelly). But they were gone, and the name “Valdez” was left carved into the wall.

Prepare for a WayHaught wedding?

Waverly had thought that Nicole was proposing to her earlier in the season, but in the finale, she was the one to ask the question. Wynonna interrupted before Waverly (and fans) got an answer.

Wynonna & Doc's relationship is complicated

And that’s an understatement. As the Season 4 trailer puts it, he’s her “vampire baby daddy” — their daughter Alice is living with her aunt, away from Purgatory, for her safety — and there were some major trust issues due to what he did to become immortal again. What the future holds for them is unclear, but chances are their story isn’t over yet.
