Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief turns 19 on June 28. First published in 2005, Rick Riordan’s beloved novel went on to become a global sensation, spurring several spinoff books, two movies, and a hit series adaptation on Disney+.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 1 told the adventurous tale of 12-year-old demigod Percy Jackson (Walker Scobell), who learns through a string of unexplainably magical events that he’s no ordinary kid. He’s the son of the Greek god Poseidon (Toby Stephens), a secret his human mother Sally Jackson (Virginia Kull) withheld to keep her child safe.
Circumstances force Sally and Grover (Aryan Simhadri), Percy’s best friend and protector, to take the pre-teen to Camp Half-Blood early. It’s there that he learns his demigod history and is sent on a quest to retrieve his Uncle Zeus’ (the late Lance Reddick) stolen lightning bolt. Demigod Annabeth Chase (Leah Sava Jeffries) joins the quest, which puts the trio to their first of many tests from the gods and monsters of Mount Olympus.

First published from 2005-2009, this is the series that started it all. Learn Percy Jackson’s heroic story from his first monster fight all the way to the climactic war against the Titans and demigods waged on the streets of Manhattan. Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Chalice of the Gods Hardcover
Percy Jackson is hoping to take a break from saving the world in Book 6 of the Percy Jackson franchise, but the gods send him on three quests in order to get the necessary three letters of recommendation from Mount Olympus for college. The Chalice of the Gods tracks the first quest. His mission: to help Zeus’s cup-bearer retrieve his goblet before it falls into the wrong hands. Annabeth and Grover join the journey.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians: Wrath of the Triple Goddess Hardcover
Book 7 of the Percy Jackson original book series comes out on September 23, 2024 and is available now for pre-order. Tracking the second of Percy’s three college quests, the golden trio finds themselves pet-sitting the goddess Hecate’s polecat, Gale, and mastiff, Hecuba, over Halloween week while she is away. When things go awry, Percy, Annabeth, and Grover must scramble to clean up their mess before Hecate gets home.

The Heroes of Olympus Hardcover Box Set
First published from 2010 to 2014, The Heroes of Olympus was the first Percy Jackson spinoff book series. It focuses on Jason, Piper, and Leo, who are all demigods but not all of them are Greek ones! Heroes of Olympus marks the first time Roman demigods are introduced into this universe.
The Heroes of Olympus: The Demigod Diaries Paperback
Another collection of short stories that supplement the series before it, The Demigod Diaries features short stories from beloved Percy Jackson characters, one of the standouts being a story from Luke Castellan’s point of view documenting the days when he adventured with Thalia and Annabeth. It also features the first first-person Percy Jackson story since The Last Olympian.
The Trials of Apollo, The 5 Book Hardcover Boxed Set
First published from 2013 to 2019, this five-book series centers on Apollo. The god is sent to Earth to live as a human as punishment from Zeus for sending the prophecy from Heroes of Olympus to the Oracle too early.
Camp Half-Blood Confidential: Your Real Guide to the Demigod Training Camp
From the world of Percy Jackson comes an insider look at what it’s really like to live at Camp Half-Blood, the training ground for demigods. The survival guide was made by Percy Jackson and other residents of the camp after the god Apollo made an awful camp orientation video.
The Kane Chronicles & Magnus Chase Series 6 Books Collection
The Kane Chronicles was first published from 2010 to 2012, and Magnus Chase was published from 2015 to 2018. The former tells the story of Carter and Sadie Kane, who discover they’re the most powerful Egyptian magicians of recent centuries, thus introducing Egyptian gods into the franchise. There are references to Greek mythology in the books to keep a connection to the original tale, and Riordan eventually wrote short stories where the stars of this franchise and Percy meet.
